What are Somato-types?
People come in all sizes and shapes, but most of us can be placed into a particular category of body type; Ectomorph, Mesomorph, and Endomorph.
Somatotypes in the fitness world is just an easy way to give advice to the millions of people who want to get in shape. Stereotyping is an easy and faster way to provide the client, or oneself, with a reference point, and a certain perspective and resemblance when looking at one's physique. Very few people fall perfectly into one of the three categories and we are often a mix of the 3 with one type dominating the others.
Understanding your body type can help you plan, strategically, your strength training program and diet plan. You can tailor your workout to they type you belong to, but just know, that by simply arranging your dietary intake to conform to your somatotype's specific meal plan, it won't guarantee that you'll lose weight or become more muscular.
Training, along with good nutrition, can completely change the appearance of one’s body in a positive way. No matter what type it is. Just don’t use somatotypes to limit yourself.
It is important to know that these Somatotypes was the work of a Psychologist, and they were based on observational data only. There is no solid scientific research to support the theory that people with different body types will thrive only if they eat in a specific way. Use this information only as a reference.
