SOMATOTYPES

What are Somato-types?

People come in all sizes and shapes, but most of us can be placed into a particular category of body type: Ectomorph, Mesomorph, and Endomorph.

There is a lot of controversy about genetics and Somatotypes. But Somato-types in the fitness world is just an easy way to advise the millions of people who want to get in shape.  Stereotyping is an easy and faster way to provide our client, and oneself, with a reference point, and a certain perspective and resemblance, when looking at one's physique.

Very few people fall perfectly into one of the three categories and we are often a mix of the 3 with one type dominating the others.

Understanding our body type can help us plan, strategically, our strength training program and diet plan. We can tailor our workout to the type we belong to.  But just know, that simply arranging our dietary intake conforms to the somatotype's specific meal plan, won't guarantee that we will lose weight or become more muscular.

Training, along with good nutrition, can completely change the appearance of one’s body in a positive way. No matter what type it is. The point is, don’t use somatotypes to limit yourself.

It is important to know that these Somatotypes were the work of a Psychologist, and they were based on observational data only. There is no solid scientific research to support the theory that people with different body types will thrive only if they eat in a specific way.  Use this information only as a reference.
