Men at the supermarket confuse on what oil is the best for cooking

EASY GUIDE TO OILS

What oil is best?

Choosing a healthy oil for cooking has become a hard decision to make. Studies revealed that heating vegetable oil leads to the release of high concentrations of chemicals called aldehydes, associated with illnesses like cancer, heart disease, and dementia.

Studies have also shown that coconut oil is a healthier option than sunflower/ safflower oil.

Because all cooking oils have their benefits and adverse effects, choosing an oil depends upon the type of food to be cooked:

  • Coconut or a similar saturated fat for heavy frying.
  • Olive and grape seed oils for light frying and salads.
  • Pumpkin and avocado oils for dressings and dips.

Keep also in mind that Baking and Grilling are better alternatives than cooking in oil.
